Feel Good Stories ROCK {Happy Friday!}

I admit it.

I love ‘feel good’ stories.

And no, this is not about rock songs, though I’ve got plenty of love for {this Feelgood classic}.  Go ahead. Take a listen. Those of us ‘of a certain age’ will appreciate this tune.  I’ll be here when you get back.

So……

My husband, when we were first dating, used to grin at me when I’d cry at commercials, cheer/clap at cool things on TV.  You know, that Oh-no-what-have-I-gotten-myself-into? grin.  I think he thought it was weird, or more specifically, I was weird.

Apparently he didn’t mind weirdness. Or found it endearing.  I’m not sure. I just know we’ve been married a while …. 🙂

Two of my favorite ‘feel good’ fixes are NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams ~ Making a Difference ~ which airs the final five minutes of the nightly broadcast and (more recently) CBS Sunday Morning.  Apparently, I’m not brand-loyal.

CBS Sunday Morning Calendar

Last weekend’s edition of CBS Sunday Morning stuck with me throughout this week, in spite of a gazillion other things to think about, do, remember ….  yada, yada, yada… you get the idea.  Never.Ending.  When something actually sticks in my brain (like Carrie Rubin’s post last week), then I know it’s good stuff, worth sharing.  Since Carrie got the shout-out yesterday 😉 , I’ve got a few others to share from the week (with a couple more tucked away for future posts).

If you’ve got five minutes, grab a beverage and read/click on…..

Captured in stunning photographs over 20 years, Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Scott Strazzante tells the intimate story of a family working their farmland and eventually selling it for development in A Changing Landscape. The similarities caught in then and now pictures … amazing.

We are more connected than we realize…..

Sassy? Humble? Forthright? Yes, yes, and yes. Ready for retirement? No way, not this lady!! Meet Ann Roth, costume designer to the stars, in this great interview.  What a cool lady! I hope I have half her moxie at 83!

Not into farmland or costumer designers? How about football?  Specifically, Jason Brown, former NFL player, who left the game to do something ‘bigger’ with his life. Oh, wait…. we’re back to farmland.  Check it out {here}.

So what about this feel good stuff? Are you touched by human interest stories?  Or do they annoy you?  If you’ve read this far, I’m guessing they don’t!

Maybe I’m just sappy?  I suspect The Husband would tell you, “Yes, she is.”  Maybe he finds it endearing….

These days, he hits Pause if I’m out of the room and rewinds (or records) to make sure I see it, because he knows I’m going to cry, cheer, clap … or all three … at the same time.  He’s even been known to cheer with me.

Yaaaay!  (throws hands in the air like we just don’t care!)

Thanks, honey.

And yes, I am weird.  He loves it.  I think.

Happy Friday!
